Our new sports pavilion was built in 2012 on the site of an old pavilion, and our long-awaited changing rooms are nearly completed. The pavilion has men’s and women’s restrooms and a small kitchen where we serve refreshments alongside hot and cold food.
It was funded by Section 106 development money, plus funding of £15,000 from Norfolk Community Foundation; a grant from Paul Bassham Charity of £2,500; match-funding from Barclays Bank, donations from private sources and our own fundraising events. It was fitted out with donations of tables and chairs from McDonald’s Wisbech. The bistro chairs, blinds, crockery and kitchen were all donated.
The pavilion is where the Upwell Playing Field Committee holds its monthly meetings and the main room can be hired for the cost of £10 per hour. The room can hold around 30 people comfortably and chairs and tables are provided. It’s the perfect space for a meeting or a family gathering such as a children’s party.
Our pavilion is protected by monitored alarm and CCTV, although no cash, or anything of value, is kept on the premises.
