Our bike and trike show – now in its second year – is on June 22. It's on from noon until 6pm, with an auto jumble, music from Bar Six, and a BBQ and bar. Come to see classic and vintage vehicles too!

Don't miss our Summer Fair on July 6.

Upwell Playing Field is a registered charity, run by the Upwell Playing Field Committee.
Our aims are simple: to provide and maintain 2.5 acres of open space for use by all ages and abilities in our community.

We are almost totally reliant on community support/funding for all financial aspects of running the field, our new sports pavilion, which can be hired for private events here, and the children’s play area.

All funds raised from our events go towards the constant upkeep of the field and facilities.

  • From April to mid-October, we run a weekly Thursday-morning Car Boot

  • Across the summer, we have Horse & Pony shows, inhand and ridden showing, with end-of-season presentation

  • Each year, in early July, we host Party in the Park with live music from local bands, a BBQ and bar, and our Summer Fair with stalls, games, displays, BBQ, bar, refreshments, rides, a dog show and a great display of classic and vintage vehicles of all types.

Upwell Playing Field was registered as a charity on 11th July 1962, but it began life as Upwell Parish Rooms. The parish rooms are long gone, but the original conveyance document for the playing field is dated 8th May 1957. The then ‘guardians’ (it wasn’t registered as a charity right at the beginning) of the parish rooms invested money raised by the sale of the rooms and gave the playing field to the community. Today’s Upwell Playing Field Committee still receives an income and interest generated by the parish rooms investment and the Upwell Playing Field Committee placed the parish rooms as an associated charity with the Charity Commission so that both are linked.

You can find out more details about the Upwell Playing Field Committee here. We are always looking for more volunteers and meet on the second Tuesday of every month!

There are a few rules that we need to enforce to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment of this precious open space. You can read more about them here.
